New resident calls Tapestry “nirvana”; Grateful for advice that led to move-in decision
One of the most common things we hear from people who are considering a move to retirement living is, “I’m not ready.” At Tapestry, we respect that everyone is an individual and that choosing the right place to live, and when, is up to you.
Our Tapestry team is happy to engage with you at any stage in your decision-making process to outline your options and to help address any obstacles or fears you may be facing. We can also help you understand what “ready” looks like for you.
Our talented and caring sales associates take a holistic approach to helping prospective residents confirm if Tapestry is right for them and, if it is, which location suits them best.
“We are lucky that people have the choice of two unique and distinct properties in Vancouver with different neighbourhoods, demographics, building features and amenities,” says Sales Advisor Jett. “Each location has a different feeling and it’s important to find the right fit for each new resident.” (A third Tapestry location is situated in Victoria’s downtown harbour.)
“We first work with prospective residents to help them envision their new lifestyle,” Jett says. “This includes thinking about which of our communities best suits their needs and considering the surrounding neighbourhood and amenities. We can then support them if they need to downsize their furniture and possessions to fit into their new space, recommend affordable and reliable movers, and build an overall timeline. It’s a customized experience for each new resident,” she says.
Tapestry also provides complimentary move-in coordination services to make the transition as seamless and worry free as possible.
Doug, one of our newest residents at Tapestry at Wesbrook Village, says his decision to move to Tapestry over other retirement communities that he considered is the overall philosophy and the freedom of choice Tapestry offers.
“When I came here, it was like nirvana,” Doug says. “This place was meant for and built for me. I know what else is out there and Tapestry is the only place I felt comfortable moving in to.”
A real estate lawyer and prolific author of guidebooks on real estate, small business, estate and retirement planning, Doug attended the nearby University of British Columbia for eight years, so he was already familiar with and a fan of the campus that is adjacent to Wesbrook Village. “I consider it one of the most beautiful locations in the world,” Doug says.
An experienced world traveler, educator and accomplished businessman before moving on to the second phase of his career as a writer, Doug says he still needed assistance making the decision to move to Tapestry, and that’s where Jett came in. “As a solo guy with no children, talking it through with someone was really helpful for me,” Doug says.
“Jett was very intuitive. She asks the right questions, she has great awareness of the stages and phases of life, and she keeps that in mind as she’s listening to you,” Doug says. “She’s a caring and compassionate person who felt that Tapestry at Wesbrook Village was right for me and helped me see that.”
Doug’s Tapestry experience started with a tour and complimentary lunch, which he describes as “five-star restaurant” or “luxury cruise ship” worthy. In addition to the outstanding dining experience, Doug’s list of other positive attributes at Tapestry is a long one: “The ambience, the beautiful surroundings including proximity to nature and beaches, the stimulating artistic and learning opportunities, the freedom and flexibility of choice, the wellness options, the helpful and friendly personnel. It’s a unique, one-of-a-kind, high quality residential experience that nothing else can compare to,” he says.
Even though it’s only been a short while since he moved to Tapestry, Doug is enthusiastic about sharing his experience with others. He has already invited one set of friends to come for a tour and is reaching out to others who he thinks will have the same reaction he did when experiencing the community for the first time.
“We encourage people to get in touch with us as soon as they start thinking about a move,” says Jett. “If you are finding the stairs or ongoing home maintenance challenging, now is the time to start thinking about it. It’s best not to have to make that decision when you are in crisis, for example after a fall,” she adds.
The best way to experience the Tapestry difference is to see it for yourself. Please contact us and we would be delighted to host you for a complimentary lunch and a tour. Our Sales Associates and Move-in Advisor can tell you about our valuable move-in incentives, and they would be more than happy to create a customized plan and timeline to help you make the move that’s right for you.
