Tapestry Teams Up for The Christmas Pyjama Drive
Have you heard of The Christmas Pyjama Drive? Back in 2010, then 6 year old Reese Shelly, upon learning that many kids don’t get Christmas gifts at all, not even a pair of new pyjamas, started on a mission to donate and collect pyjamas for kids who didn’t get them.
Fast forward 5 years and over 4000 pairs of pyjamas have been donated for kids in Vancouver and across the country.
The team at Tapestry at Arbutus Walk decided that they wanted to support this cause this year. On Tuesday, December 15, the community hosted a “Jammies and Toast” breakfast event for staff and residents. Admission – one pair of pyjamas for a kid 0 – 16 years.
The community came up with 51 pairs of pyjamas and over $100 in cash donations for the drive. They also seemed to come up with a lot of fun judging by the photos! We were happy that representatives from The Christmas Pyjama Drive could attend and experience what it’s like to be “grown up” youngsters at Tapestry as they so nicely described!
Thanks to everyone who participated and donated to this great kid-led cause!
