Acting with Urgency and Decisiveness to Protect Tapestry Against COVID-19
Over the past several weeks, Tapestry has acted with urgency and decisiveness to protect the health of our residents, employees and communities. All of the measures reflect our commitment to act with an abundance of care and caution, and to help support concerted global efforts to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.
Earlier this month, Tapestry initiated screening of all visitors to every community to ensure they met specific health entrance requirements, including not having recently travelled to a COVID-19 Level 3 risk country or exhibiting any flu or cold symptoms. We also increased communication about the importance of hygiene (i.e., sneezing into a tissue and discarding it promptly) and social distancing to help contain the spread of any type of virus.
While very fortunate that none of our communities have been impacted by COVID-19, we continued to act decisively by following government and health official recommendations by restricting all visitation in our communities to “essential visitors”. Most recently, we curtailed community activities and programs, and closed all shared amenity spaces recognizing the importance of maintaining social distancing to prevent any potential for cross-contamination.
While we have implemented significant measures to protect the health of our community, one thing has not changed – our commitment to our residents. Our employees continue to work tirelessly to deliver the exceptional service that our residents expect while living at Tapestry.
For example, our residents can continue to enjoy the healthy and delicious food available in all of our communities, but it is now being offered as a take-out or delivery service to be enjoyed in the comfort of their suite. Our Wellness team is also exploring ways to keep residents active, vibrant and engaged while practising social distancing.
“I am thankful to our residents for their patience, support and co-operation during what I know has been a challenging time,” says Mark Andrew, Senior Vice President. “I am also grateful to our employees who have continued to support our residents and each other during a period of constant change and unique circumstances.”
In keeping with our proactive approach to protect the health of our residents and employees, Tapestry is not currently offering any tours or visits to any of its communities. We are, however, available by telephone if you are interested in exploring active aging as a possible future option at any Tapestry community. Please contact us if you are interested in learning more.
“Our continuing focus as we navigate the COVID-19 pandemic is working together calmly, confidently and decisively to maintain community health and wellness,” adds Andrew. “We’re taking to heart the words of a well-known historical figure: ‘When “I” is replaced with “we”, even illness becomes wellness.”
