Celebrate Intergenerational Day!
It’s Intergenerational Day! June 1 is recognized in a number of cities and countries as a day to focus on promoting intergenerational programs and learning opportunities, and to assist in developing rich and sustainable connections between generations.
Here at Tapestry, we have a number of programs that incorporate generations. Our community in Vancouver, Tapestry at Wesbrook Village, shared some of their programs and photos below.
Tapestry at Wesbrook Village prides themselves on connecting residents with kids of all ages – from toddlers to teens! Our ‘Toddlers at Tapestry’ program encourages moms from the University community to bring their babies and tots to sing, laugh and play alongside our in-house ‘grandparents’. Our Project Chef program links seniors to elementary students in the area to help pass on healthy and safe cooking skills. Most recently, we have connected with our neighbouring University Hill Highschool, for our Tech-U program, where Grade 11 & 12 students offer 1-on-1 tech help to any residents needing it. These, and other programs like them, help to build community, spark relationships and find common ground between multiple generations!
