Cherishing Memories and Celebrating Life
The unforgettable sound of bagpipes filled the community as Tapestry residents and guests joyfully gathered to celebrate Barbara’s life story. Barbara is one of Tapestry’s newest Ambassadors, residents who graciously share their stories and images to portray an authentic view of life in our communities.
The bonnie October celebratory event started with a wee Scottish tune performed by Tapestry employee Catherine Thornsley, who set the tone for an intimate afternoon of cherishing memories and celebrating life.
The performance was followed by a shortbread-making demonstration by Tapestry Sous Chef, Tabatha Stahl, using Barbara’s own special recipe. Tabatha and Barbara shared inside tips on how to make the perfect traditional Scottish shortbread — use excellent quality butter, well-sifted flour and do not over-stir the dough!
The highlight of the afternoon was the debut of Barbara’s Ambassador video, a compelling look into a beautiful life with sage advice for individuals of all ages, especially those who may be considering a move into a retirement community.
In her video, Barbara also comments on the comfort of her community and the Tapestry service which is focused on helping individuals live their best life. “Everyone is here to help us…help us grow…and help us enjoy the rest of our lives.”
“If you’re going to age, you might as well age well,” says Barbara, who counts herself fortunate to be a Tapestry resident. Tapestry “is one of those places I wish everyone had the ability to come and live their life. You can do what you want; you’re still independent, but you have lots of friends around you to chat to and have fun with.”
Tapestry is excited and very proud to share Barbara’s story. We invite you to learn more about her inspirational life’s journey and how she embraces a new age every day.
