History of Jazz Lecture Series
May 2 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm PDT
Join the residents of Tapestry at Wesbrook Village for a captivating journey through the vibrant history of Jazz.
Jazz, born in the soulful streets of New Orleans in the 1920s, embodies the fusion of African rhythms and European instruments, birthing what is hailed as “True American music.” From its humble beginnings, Jazz has evolved through Dixieland, Ragtime, and Boogie Woogie, culminating in the illustrious Big Band Era.
Immerse yourself in the swinging rhythms of Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, and Harry James, as we delve into the essence of Swing—the heartbeat of Jazz. As Duke Ellington aptly put it, “It don’t mean a thing if it ain’t got that swing.”
This workshop takes place every Thursday morning in May, from 11:00am-12:30pm, in the Wesbrook Village Classroom.
