Good Friends Make all the Difference for Tapestry Ambassador Ray
Tapestry was filled with melodic crescendos of happiness and friendship as the community gathered to celebrate the company’s newest resident Ambassador, Ray.
Tapestry Ambassadors are residents who graciously share their story of living in one of our communities and how the experience has enriched their lives. Their images and stories are featured in our advertising and marketing initiatives, giving prospective residents the opportunity to learn first-hand about life at Tapestry.
The event, which appropriately took place during Active Aging Week, proudly celebrated Ray, who since moving into Tapestry in 2017, has embodied the spirit of active aging with his focus on battling Parkinson’s disease with resilience and positivity.
The event started with a knock-out as Ray and Tapestry Kinesiologist Brian Chua led everyone through a boxing workout circuit, giving the community a taste of the “Boxing for Parkinson’s” class that both introduced to help fight against the progression of Ray’s Parkinson’s disease, a progressive nervous system disorder that he was diagnosed with 12 years ago.
The special event concluded with an incredible musical performance by Catherine (Cat) Thornsley, Wellness Associate, who performed a wonderful operatic rendition of many of Ray’s favourite songs, which they often enjoy together in Tapestry’s “Splendid Sounds” class. “I specifically wanted to sing ‘Smile’ and ‘Que Sera Sera’”, says Cat, adding that, “they are perfect soundtracks that highlight Ray’s positive and inspirational outlook on life.”
Tapestry is thrilled to share Ray’s story. If his words and images inspire you to consider living in one of Tapestry’s communities in Vancouver, Victoria or Etobicoke, we encourage you to contact us and learn how wonderful your life could be as part of a thriving and connected seniors’ community for independent adults.
