Holiday Spirit in Etobicoke!
2014 is coming to an end and we took some time to find out how the team at Tapestry at Village Gate West ended this year. Between Be a Santa to a Senior, bake sale to support Habitat for Humanity, and various holiday activities like caroling and centre piece creation, residents and staff have been busy!
Be a Santa to a Senior
Tapestry at Village Gate West in Toronto has been taking part in this Home Instead program for a number of years. This year was the smoothest program delivery yet! The Home Instead partner provided approximately 150 names of seniors in need from their client base. The first 100 to arrive on the tree at Tapestry were picked up by residents and staff almost immediately! The next 30 were taken almost as quickly! It seems next year they may be able to increase their reach even further! Bake Sale for Habitat for Humanity
Held on December 17, Tapestry at Village Gate West hosted the annual bake sale. With a couple of residents participating, and staff including Nancy, Brian, Lynn, and Kayla, loads of Christmas goodies were prepared and beautifully packaged for residents to purchase. For a number of years, Tapestry team member Natalie has been participating in the Habitat for Humanity Polar Bear Dip to raise funds for Habitat. All proceeds from the bake sale go towards her fundraising goals.
Within about a half hour from bake sale opening, nearly every single package (packaged by Suzette, health and wellness) was sold out! Over $300 was raised. We so look forward to hearing all about Natalie’s ice cold dip on New Year’s Day!
