Tapestry campaign raises almost $8,000 for music education
This fall, Tapestry’s generous residents made a commitment to give the gift of music to children, youth and others by focusing their Hearts for Giving philanthropic efforts on raising funds for the Victoria Conservatory of Music.
At the community’s fundraising event last week, Tapestry at Victoria Harbour raised almost $8,000 towards its $10,000 goal.
The fundraiser featured a performance by students from the Conservatory – the Gardellino Wind Trio and a talented pianist – who played a selection of classical music. Those attending the event witnessed first-hand the incredible musical talents and dedication of these students who have benefited from the educational offerings and financial support the Conservatory offers.
The community then launched the festive season with a reception featuring a “make your own” S’mores station along with beverages and other treats prepared by Tapestry’s talented Culinary Team.
Tapestry at Victoria Harbour residents have a long history of harnessing the generosity of their fellow residents and the surrounding community. Other recent fundraising campaigns have benefited the Victoria Hospice, the Victoria Women’s Transition House, the BC Cancer – Victoria Integrated Care and Research Pavilion, and displaced Ukrainian nationals located in the Victoria area.
These efforts reflect the community’s ongoing focus on contributing to the broader community. And they serve as an extraordinary example of how a committed group of people – of any age – can make a significant impact in society when they have “hearts for giving”.
A non-profit organization with 60 years in the community, the Victoria Conservatory of Music is renowned for its diversity of programming in classical, contemporary, technology and creativity, postsecondary studies and early childhood music. Their music therapy program also delivers customized services to meet the needs of more than 1,900 individuals weekly – the largest clientele served per week in Canada.
The community continues to focus on meeting its $10,000 fundraising goal.
