Tapestry pushes the boundaries of ‘Active Aging Week’
Tapestry is pleased to recognize “Active Aging Week”, which runs from October 1 to 7, 2019. Initiated by the International Council of Active Aging, this annual event celebrates active aging at any age and showcases the capabilities of older adults as fully participating members of society.
At Tapestry, our communities are not just recognizing and celebrating “Active Aging Week”, we’re pushing the boundaries every day of what it means to live independently in thriving, connected communities where our residents can live their best life possible.
With our holistic focus on the seven dimensions of wellness, Tapestry offers unlimited opportunities to maintain an active and healthy lifestyle so that our residents can continue to improve their physical, mental and social well-being. Our residents recently participated in two key events that highlight our focus on active aging and challenge the notion of age as a limitation.
An Amazing Ride To Conquer Cancer
All of our communities participated in this year’s Ride to Conquer Cancer as part of Concert’s 30th-year anniversary celebration and to reflect our commitment to community involvement. In B.C., several residents from our Wesbrook Village community proudly participated in the Ride, crossing the finish line together with many Tapestry employees who raised thousands of dollars for cancer research, adding to Concert’s total donation of $150,000.
CN Tower EdgeWalk
Not many individuals would choose to walk on a ledge encircling the top of the CN Tower, which overlooks the City of Toronto at a height of more than 356 terrifying metres. But when offered the opportunity to participate in what is billed as Toronto’s most extreme attraction, several of our Village Gate West residents excitedly signed up for the 30-minute event, which tested their nerves, physicality, and most importantly, demonstrated that age is nothing but a number.
As a reflection of our commitment to Active Aging week — and living your best life possible every day — our October calendar of events and activities at Arbutus Walk, Wesbrook Village and Village Gate West, continues to represent our commitment to programming that reflects the seven dimensions of wellness including physical, emotional, intellectual, social, spiritual, environmental and occupational.
Join us for a lunch and tour to find out how we can support you in living your best life possible by enjoying all the benefits of our wellness programs and services, not only during Active Aging Week, but every day of each year!
