With the wrapping-up of “Fit Feb”, our annual celebration of wellness, it seemed particularly fitting to honour Ted, Tapestry’s newest Ambassador who has a passion for sports and later took up art as a hobby.
Tapestry Ambassadors are residents who graciously share their story of living in one of our communities and how the experience has enriched their lives. Their images and stories are featured in our advertising and marketing initiatives, giving prospective residents the opportunity to learn first-hand about life at Tapestry.
On February 24, 2022, the community at Wesbrook Village came together to celebrate the launch of Ted’s Ambassador video. The event started with a showing of Ted’s incredible artwork, while residents and guests enjoyed delicious appetizers prepared by the community’s culinary team. Everyone was delighted to see a selection of Ted’s beautiful artwork on display as many friends and neighbours never knew about his incredible artistic talents!
After watching Ted’s inspirational video, our Wellness team presented Ted with an updated version of a cherished mock Time magazine cover that was based on an original presented by his students more than 30 years ago.
The team also shared kind words and testimonies collected from a Facebook group of students that Ted had inspired and impressed while teaching at Gladstone Secondary School for his entire teaching career.
The students shared sentiments of how Ted’s unique approach to education had led them to develop an authentic appreciation for history and in some cases, to themselves pursue a career in education.
Tapestry is thrilled to share Ted’s story. If his words and images inspire you to consider living in one of Tapestry’s communities in Vancouver, Victoria or Etobicoke, we encourage you to contact us and learn how wonderful your life could be as part of a thriving and connected seniors’ community for independent adults.
