#WellnessWednesday: Strength with Luis – Kinesiologist at Tapestry Arbutus Walk
As we aim to continually engage residents and inspire them to pursue wellness in all of its dimensions, we have launched a new video series, called #WellnessWednesday. This series focuses on leading activities that our viewers can accomplish in the comfort of their own home focusing on all dimensions of wellness.
This week’s video features Tapestry at Arbutus Walk’s Kinesiologist Luis Lopez leading us through a strength circuit class. Make sure you find an open space in your suite and follow along to the class at your own comfortable pace. This is a great workout to raise your heart rate and improve your overall physical strength.
Our Kinesiologist Luis: Luis grew up in Venezuela and moved to Canada 12 years ago. He graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology and has been working at Tapestry since February of 2019. Luis has previous experience in volunteering in mult-disciplinary clinics with a team of physiotherapists, registered massage therapists and kinesiologists. Luis has volunteered at Surrey Kid’s Physio where he gained experience working with children and Neuromotion where he worked with people with spinal cord injuries. At Tapestry Luis leads a variety of wellness-based activities every week, finding creative ways to keep our residents engaged and inspired while respecting the current physical distancing requirements to protect against COVID-19. In his free time, Luis enjoys weight-training in at the Richmond Olympic Oval, playing basketball, attending spin classes and going to the driving range. Luis is very passionate about healthy eating habits, and welcomes any questions about training or nutrition.
