Why a Positive Mental Attitude Makes All the Difference
When asked how he has maintained his resilience in the face of so many life challenges, one of Tapestry’s newest resident Ambassadors doesn’t hesitate to share what has become his personal mantra: PMA or Positive Mental Attitude.
“Thinking positive thoughts can improve your health and well-being,” says Yul, whose video story was recently premiered to an enraptured audience at Tapestry. “It can help you accomplish your dreams, awaken happiness and drive your motivation.”
As Yul says, although we cannot control our minds easily, we can control our actions. By conducting positive activities habitually, instead of negative ones, our mental attitude becomes positive.
“If you habitually say, ‘a half-full bottle’, instead of ‘half-empty’ or say ‘interesting’ instead of ‘boring’, and you smile and recite PMA in the mirror, you will see the difference!”
Audience members were amazed by Yul’s story, which took him from growing up in poverty in war-torn Korea to a new life in Canada. He pursued an extraordinary career as an academic and author, enjoying life with his wife and two children.
Yul’s video inspired the audience not only because of his remarkable life’s journey, but given his unwavering commitment to wellness, which he continues to pursue by running 10 kilometres every other day, stretching for almost two hours each morning and taking full advantage of Tapestry’s gym to round-out his fitness routine.
After enjoying his video and leading a discussion with the audience, Yul continued to inspire by guiding the assembled group on a one kilometre walk through Pacific Spirit Park, which is nestled adjacent to the community. Bathed in the forest’s early Fall glow, participants pondered Yul’s life lessons, and many spoke of how encouraged they were by his steadfast commitment to wellness and maintaining a Positive Mental Attitude or PMA!
Tapestry is excited and very proud to share Yul’s story. We invite you to learn more about his extraordinary life’s journey and how he is embracing a new age.
Please enjoy watching Yul’s video.
