Celebrating a special birthday BC style!
Not even a wet Spring day could dampen the spirits of Katie Drysdale who recently celebrated her 92nd birthday in special BC style.
A resident of Tapestry at Wesbrook Village, Katie shares a birthday with White Spot (June 16, 1928) and was thrilled when the legendary BC company offered to cater lunch at the community for her friends and Tapestry employees. White Spot graciously served-up their delicious burgers and fries to a grateful, celebratory crowd anxious to enjoy one of their tasty home-grown favourites.
How did White Spot’s food truck end up parked at Tapestry’s Wesbrook Village community? Two years ago, Katie was invited to celebrate her 90th birthday together with White Spot at one of their local restaurants and she entertained the guests with her lovely singing and piano playing.
“Katie is a special friend to White Spot – from the time she sent in her well-wishes for White Spot’s 90th anniversary, she has left an indelible impression on the White Spot Family. Her spirit and energy are contagious, and we thought that this was the least we can do to celebrate her special day!” says Warren Erhart, President of White Spot Hospitality.
“It was wonderful to celebrate our birthdays together,” says Katie, who didn’t mind needing an umbrella to enjoy her favourite burger and fries combo. “White Spot is a BC legend and I am proud to call myself a ‘Spotitarian’ – someone who loves White Spot’s food and the opportunity to spend time with people you care about!”
All of the food service was provided by White Spot at the community with full regard for physical distancing requirements in accordance with provincial health guidelines.
“Nothing makes us happier than supporting unique experiences that create memorable moments for our residents,” says Natalie Wallace, who oversees the delivery of Wesbrook Village’s wellness programs and activities. “At Tapestry, it’s truly a passion and commitment to serve our residents. And, when White Spot burgers are involved – it’s even more of a treat!”
