Try Chris’s Potato Chip Ice Cream
Meet Chris Warren, Sous Chef.
Team: Tapestry at Arbutus Walk, Vancouver
Hometown: Ottawa, Ontario
Favourite part of the job: the flexibility and the opportunity to be creative
Favourite food: currently perfectly roasted chicken (changes almost weekly)
Chris Warren works at our Tapestry community in Kitsilano in Vancouver. His whole career has been spent cooking. By the time Chris was 25 years old, he had enough of the restaurant environment and decided to never work in a restaurant again. Because of this decision, Chris has experience in a range of environments from food service in a homeless shelter to a retirement community in Ottawa to the University of Ottawa.
It’s been six years since Chris moved to Vancouver. After a trip to Vancouver during the Olympics, he was sold on a west coast lifestyle. Chris started with us at Tapestry shortly after he moved to Vancouver.
Chris describes Tapestry at Arbutus Walk’s restaurant menu as elevated home style; Sunday roast dinner being a resident favourite. He has been making ice cream in a wide variety of interesting flavours including such favourites as potato chip, peach and lavender, and the Kitsilano – kale/blueberry/almond. Using fresh seasonal fruit makes all the difference.
“Working at Tapestry is much different than working in a restaurant. I get to experiment with my skills, and try new things. There’s more flexibility and room for creativity”.
